Horiztonal Stripes

Outfits, Wardrobe Essentials 1 Comment by girlintheyellowcab

I used to avoid horizontal stripes like the plague. I thought they would be unflattering and add inches to my waist line. Now I find that the majority of my wardrobe consists of horizontal stripes. From subtle black and brown combinations to bright neon color blocking-I welcome them with open arms!

Mother’s Day Brunch

Wardrobe Essentials No Comments by girlintheyellowcab

On Sunday Morning my family and I went to Milwaukee for Mother’s Day Brunch. We heard about INdustri Cafe and their great brunch menu through Kaela at Pea Pod Photography (who also joined us for brunch with her family). If you ever venture there, I would highly recommend the Monte Cristo and their $13 Blood Marys (they are practically a meal in themselves). Since I’ll be partaking in many more Sunday Brunches in Madison upon our new move (June 1st-yay!) I had to invest in a couple go-to pieces. This dress I just purchased from Lands’ End Canvas was a perfect fit. It is definitely a new staple piece for Sunday’s.

Wu for Target

Target is the store I spend too much money at on things I don’t really need. It’s my happy place and I just can never walk out empty handed. Jason Wu however, is something I need. I”m super pumped for his collection to debut this Sunday at Target. I’m trying to devise a plan of action as I know previous collections like Missoni and Mulberry were sold out in a matter of minutes. These are a few looks that are on my shopping list! See the full collection here.

Gold Galore

Wardrobe Essentials No Comments by girlintheyellowcab

Gold is growing on me. It has grown on me. I used to never wear gold jewelry and now I’m obsessed with it. My Michael Kors Watch has become one of my favorite statement pieces that I consistently wear. It seems to go with everything.  I have always loved bold pieces whether it’s an accessory or major player in my wardrobe. What I love most about these three paired together is the contrast of texture, size, and finish. They’re so different, yet when combined make a perfect unison.

Spring Inspirations

It’s been feeling a lot like Spring with the mid 40 degree weather until the blizzard we had yesterday! Snow, ice,  and freezing rain really put a damper on my ’think warm’ motto. In the meantime, I’ve made an effort to keep the  talk of Spring current and so have some fellow bloggers. Below are a few blogs I frequent and some great looks sure to make one wish they had a trip booked to Cabo.

New Years Eve Accessories

Wardrobe Essentials No Comments by girlintheyellowcab

Every New Years, I feel as though I’m scrambling to find the perfect ensemble. Right after Christmas, NYE just sneaks up on me, and half of the time I’m left with settling for something I’m not completely in love with. This year I thought, why not wear something I already have that I know I love, and find some new accessories to go with it?  A new pair of booties, cocktail ring, or even a new perfume can take any ordinary outfit up a couple notches to be NYE ready. And the best part is, you don’t have to waste your time in a dressing room to find the perfect necklace or mascara.

Wish List

Wardrobe Essentials No Comments by girlintheyellowcab

A wish list. Everyone has one.  Some may be larger and some may be smaller than others. You may even have multiple ones like a wardrobe wish list, a travel wish list, a life goal wish list. Regardless of how many or what ones you have, you have one. To me, this particular wish list is like a goal to work towards in order to satisfy your inner Sarah Jessica Parker-or outter. Everyone deserves a little reward after a great accomplishment, a little thank you to yourself, even if it’s more than a little one. I’ve compiled my all-time, weak at the knees, would give my right arm for these classic pieces that are sure to last a lifetime.

Pretty in Pink

Wardrobe Essentials No Comments by girlintheyellowcab

This past weekend was my cousin’s wedding and I was feeling nothing but muted colors-perfect for Fall! I wanted something extremely feminine, classy, yet flirtatious. The juxtaposition was possible with a classic blazer, feminine color palette, and a flirtatious braided spaghetti-strap dress.

Vintage Hues

Wardrobe Essentials No Comments by girlintheyellowcab

Vintage Hues have taken more than a stance in my wardrobe lately. From trousers to tops, I’ve come to enjoy and embrace this new fad of mine. This outfit was perfect for a cool summer day, browsing in and out of shops, stopping every so often to sit and people watch. One of my new favorite places in Madison is practically in my back yard, Camp Randall. And I love this arch that signifies more than just the entrance way to a Badger Game, but a memorial for the civil war soldiers that have passed through in the 1861-65.
